¡HACER! relies on the collaboration of 17 partners, including: Bank of America; College Summit; The Education Fund; Florida International University (FIU); Miami Dade College (MDC); Miami-Dade County Public Schools; Single Stop USA; uASPIRE; and Univision. With our partners taking a direct role and guiding the program through a principle of shared stewardship, ¡HACER! provides college readiness resources and services in the form of: mentoring, tutoring, college tours, financial aid workshops and more. Currently, ¡HACER! works with six of Miami-Dade County’s highest-poverty, lowest-performing schools with the highest Latino student population rates: Booker T. Washington High School; Homestead Senior High; Miami Beach Senior; Miami Jackson Senior; Miami Southridge; and, Westland Hialeah.
¡HACER! goes beyond targeted student assistance to address the larger issues at play behind the low enrollment and graduation rates for Latino students in Miami-Dade County. By creating an alliance of partners that includes Latino organizations as well as community leaders, employers and policymakers, ¡HACER! takes a hands on approach towards fostering a “college culture” in the county and intends to include new members in the future to expand its impact. We believe that by closing these educational and earning gaps, ¡HACER! will be able to play a direct role in shaping the growth of Miami-Dade County, giving it a bright and competitive future.
